Some Results on the Eigenvalues of Distance-Regular Graphs

چکیده
In 1986, Terwilliger showed that there is a strong relation between the eigenvalues of a distance-regular graph and the eigenvalues of a local graph. In particular, he showed that the eigenvalues of a local graph are bounded in terms of the eigenvalues of a distance-regular graph, and he also showed that if an eigenvalue θ of the distance-regular graph has multiplicity m less than its valency k, then −1 − b1 θ+1 is an eigenvalue for any local graph with multiplicity at least k − m. In this talk, we are going to generalize the results of Terwilliger to a broader class of subgraphs. Instead of local graphs, we consider induced subgraphs of distance-regular graphs (and more generally t-walk-regular graphs with t a positive integer) which satisfies certain regularity conditions. Then we apply the results to obtain bounds on eigenvalues of t-walk-regular graphs if the girth equals 3, 4, 5, 6 or 8. In particular, we will show that the second largest eigenvalue of a distance-regular graph with girth 6 and valency k is at most k− 1, and we will show that the only such graphs having k − 1 as its second largest eigenvalue are the doubled Odd graphs. D-Spectrum and D-Energy of Complements of Iterated Line Graphs of Regular Graphs
The D-eigenvalues {µ1,…,µp} of a graph G are the eigenvalues of its distance matrix D and form its D-spectrum. The D-energy, ED(G) of G is given by ED (G) =∑i=1p |µi|. Two non cospectral graphs with respect to D are said to be D-equi energetic if they have the same D-energy. In this paper we show that if G is an r-regular graph on p vertices with 2r ≤ p - 1, then the complements of iterated lin...
متن کاملSome results on the energy of the minimum dominating distance signless Laplacian matrix assigned to graphs
Let G be a simple connected graph. The transmission of any vertex v of a graph G is defined as the sum of distances of a vertex v from all other vertices in a graph G. Then the distance signless Laplacian matrix of G is defined as D^{Q}(G)=D(G)+Tr(G), where D(G) denotes the distance matrix of graphs and Tr(G) is the diagonal matrix of vertex transmissions of G. For a given minimum dominating se...
متن کاملOn the distance eigenvalues of Cayley graphs
In this paper, we determine the distance matrix and its characteristic polynomial of a Cayley graph over a group G in terms of irreducible representations of G. We give exact formulas for n-prisms, hexagonal torus network and cubic Cayley graphs over abelian groups. We construct an innite family of distance integral Cayley graphs. Also we prove that a nite abelian group G admits a connected...
متن کاملQuasi-Spectral Characterization of Strongly Distance-Regular Graphs
A graph Γ with diameter d is strongly distance-regular if Γ is distanceregular and its distance-d graph Γd is strongly regular. The known examples are all the connected strongly regular graphs (i.e. d = 2), all the antipodal distanceregular graphs, and some distance-regular graphs with diameter d = 3. The main result in this paper is a characterization of these graphs (among regular graphs with...
متن کاملPartially Distance-regular Graphs and Partially Walk-regular Graphs∗
We study partially distance-regular graphs and partially walkregular graphs as generalizations of distance-regular graphs and walkregular graphs respectively. We conclude that the partially distanceregular graphs can be viewed as some extremal graphs of partially walk-regular graphs. In the special case that the graph is assumed to be regular with four distinct eigenvalues, a well known class o...
